Experience of a Journalist (林宇非) On July 18, we had a short experience of traditional Chinese painting at the art class —— Hey, welcome to Chinese painting activity! We started with a short presentation about traditional Chinese art. It showed a lot of traditional Chinese paintings and paper cuts. One look at a Chinese painting is all it takes to realize the big difference between Chinese and western culture. Chinese painting is also the figure of poetry. A good artist is a genius in both side of painting and poetry. On the side of the painting, there is always a short poetry to express the ideas of the artist After the presentation, we have a try to create our own paintings. We have four groups: Chinese painting, paper cuts, kite making and Chinese knot. In the group of painting, we started with learning the way of holding a brush. It is different from we usually do with a pen, and many students said that in this way of drawing, it’s really easy to get tired. That’s true, and maybe this is a reason why we Chinese now replace rushes with pens. All the creations combine traditional Chinese art with some elements of the western culture. We all have great fun of creating and appreciating them.
